Answer:
There isn't a perfect way to refresh Finder windows in macOS or OS X. You can, however, force a refresh by hitting the back button and then forward button in the window. Or you can open a folder within the window and hit the back button. Another option is to Force Quit (Command+Option+Escape) the Finder.
