Answer:
For the fourth generation Apple TV, you can restart by holding the Menu and Home (the icon looks like a screen) buttons until the Apple TV restarts. For an older Apple TV, try holding the Menu and Down buttons until the device restarts. You can also restart through the interface. Try Settings > System > Restart (or Settings > General > Restart on an older Apple TV).
