Question:

How do I get rid of the Dashboard in OS X?
- Asked by Ruby B. July 26th, 2013

Answer:

This option is available via a Terminal command. Launch the Terminal app (it's in the Utilities folder), paste in the following, then hit return.

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean true

Then relaunch things via this command:

killall Dock

If you ever want to bring the Dashboard back, type in the first command except switch "true" to "false".
