How Do I Get Rid Of Duplicate Icons In Launchpad?

Why are some of my app icons showing up more than once in Launchpad and how do I get rid of them?

Answer:
Launchpad draws from any applications that are inside of your /Applications folder. It also looks at applications inside of folders nested within the /Applications folder. If duplicate icons are appearing, there is a good chance there is an older version of an application tucked away somewhere in the /Applications folder. To remove it from Launchpad, simply remove it from /Applications.
