Answer:
To remove an app from your iPad, hold your finger down on the app icon until all your app icons start bouncing/shaking. A small X will appear on the corner of the app icon for any app you are allowed to remove (some apps, like Safari, can't be removed). Hit the X on the app icon and a dialog will appear to confirm that you want to remove the app. Tap Delete and it will be removed from your iPad.
If you ever want to get the app back, go to your purchased apps in the App Store and you will be able to redownload it to your iPad.
