Answer:
You can reset your Apple TV using the Apple Remote. Press and hold both the Menu and Down buttons for six seconds. When you release, the Apple TV should flash and reset itself. This works for both the first and second generation Apple TV.
If you can't find your Apple Remote, you can just unplug it from power for at least thirty seconds to force a reset.
