What Is A Quad-Core Processor?

Question:

The new iMacs have quad-core processors. What does that mean?
- Asked by Ramon T. May 20th, 2011

Answer:

The new iMac does feature a quad-core i5 processor. This simply means that the processor has four cores. The core is the section of the processor responsible for reading and executing commands on your computer. Having four cores on your processor increases its ability to complete commands vs. a traditional processor that only has a single core.
