As of 8/5, it is believed that Apple will be holding an event to announce the new iPhone on Tuesday, September 9th, 2014. The tentatively named iPhone 6 is expected to include larger 4.7 and 5.5 inch displays. The updated iPhone would likely go on sale within two weeks of the announcement. Possibly Friday, September 19th or Friday, September 26th.
UPDATE: It was announced on September 9th, 2014 that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available for sale on September 19th, 2014 with pre-orders beginning September 12th, 2014.
