Answer:
Yes, just launch the System Preferences (go to the Apple menu at the top left of your screen to find it) and then select the Security & Privacy tab. Click on the General tab and then uncheck the box that says "Require password...". You may need unlock System Preferences by clicking the lock at the bottom left of the window and entering your system password.
